PRECI-DIP Designs Open Bottom Contacts
PRECI-DIP has developed a specialized series of screw-machined contacts known as open bottom contacts, which offer wide customisation options. These are an ideal option for stackable configurations, suitable also for low-profile solutions.
The screw-machined contacts use multi-finger clips and as such are a robust solution for harsh environments. While the sleeve can be easily customized to fit specific user requirements, the clip remains a standard, field-proven component.

Versatile and Customisable Open Bottom Contacts
One of the main advantages of open bottom contacts is their independence from pin length. Since there is no bottom to the contact, there are no restrictions on the pin length. The pin can significantly extend beyond the other side of the contact. This design avoids the need for excessively long contacts to accommodate variations in pin length and reduces costs.
Incorporating a wide guiding chamfer is highly appreciated when designing open bottom contacts. This chamfer serves two purposes: first, it facilitates insertion in blind mating configurations; second, it allows for easy relocation of the pin’s localization.

Open bottom contact design is ideal for stackable configurations. In this setup, the pin can pass through multiple contacts in a row, allowing for the connection of several boards together.
Another advantage of the open bottom contact design is its suitability for low-profile solutions, including 0-profile configurations. Minimizing the shoulder required for soldering the contact onto a board allows space-efficient assembly.
